OWA – Unable to Login, Headers Truncated Error Message on SBS.

Scenario – A user attempts to login through the usual OWA login page though after inputting their username and password is given the following error

HTTP Error – HEADERS_TRUNCATED

Exchange uses MSExchangeFBA – Form BasedAuthentication

No need to drastically interrupt other working Exchange users by restarting all exchange services. Following recent Microsoft rollup packages Exchange services are often disabled and re-enabled to allow patching.

We’ve come across this service being disabled so it would appear that it should not cause an issue and it is expected. However, the service does need to be re-enabled and its start up type changed to ‘Automatic’ to allow users to log back into OWA and utilize the Form Based Authentication.
