When loading up Office or any Office application, do you get the Outlook MAPI32.DLL error?

The error reads as follows: “cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version”. This type of error may occur when opening any Office application such as Word, Excel or Powerpoint. It is not singular to the Outlook application. If you’re looking to fix this problem then look no further, we’re here to help and you don’t need any particular technical knowledge to get this sorted.

Below we’ve detailed two methods to help rectify this problem.

Method 1

There is an easy way around this. The first step would be to totally uninstall Microsoft Office and reinstall it. If you find that this does not fix the issue, all is not lost! You could always try and follow Method 2, below.

Method 2

  • Go to the following location in your C: drive “Program filescommon filesSystemMSMAPI1033”
  • Rename the MSMAPI32.DLL to MSMAPI32.OLD
  • Now open up Outlook and this will go through a brief install again. This will allow it to rebuild the missing or corrupt file.
